Do it. You are of course correct that you will need to test thoroughly it is [Quoted] [Quoted] an upgrade after all, but yes the fact that the DB is now on a different OS [Quoted] shouldn't cause you issues (except maybe licensing issues if you are only [Quoted] licensed for HPUX).

you will need to migrate using exp/imp and should at least consider 9.2 since 8174 ends Error Correction Support at 31/12/2003.

[Quoted] The principle is correct though, dedicate a box to the db and a box to the app should give increased performance. Which box needs to be more powerful depends on how the workload is split.
