Greetings:

We are going to install Oracle 7 (v7.1.4) to one of our servers (Sun Sparc20, Solaris 2.3), which currently has two instances of Oracle 6 runing on it. In the planning session, One of our system adminstraters mentioned that Oralce 6 and Oracle 7 may interfere with each other due to the Shared Memeory. Personally, I don't agree, since I assume Oracle (Big!) knows how to handle resource shareing and synchronazation that kind of stuffs and Oracle 7 should be pretty stable by know. Yet, because one the database is the production database, I would like to be 100% sure. So, If you gurus of Oracle out there has such experience (having oracle 6 and Oracle 7 runing on the same box) , could you please share with me through email.

Your help will be highly appreciated!! Received on Tue Jan 16 1996 - 00:00:00 CET
