I called the Oracle Support Hotline about this problem and the analyst I
spoke to, had no clue as to what is/could be causing the following error. I
would appreciate any insight you can give me, as this is a critical project.
I have two Sun systems. One is a SUN 670 running SunOs 4.1.3, Oracle 7.0.15,
and Forms 4.0.11. Call this machine A.
The second Sun system is a SPARC/20 running SunOs 4.1.3 (Solaris 1.1.1B),
Oracle 7.0.15, Forms 4.0.11. Call this machine B. Machine B has 96MB of
RAM, and 2 gig internal space, 4 gig external, where the external is mirrored
using Sun Disksuite software.
The problem: I have an Oracle*Forms application running on Machine A that I
wish to port to Machine B. I have re-created the database on Machine B with
no problem. All of the *.fmb files have been ftp-ed using binary (I) from
Machine A to Machine B. When I try to bring up any of these *.fmb files
on oraform40m on Machine B, I get a Bus Error and the application dumps core.
f40gen, on the other hand, is able to compile these "fmb" files on Machine B
with no errors.
Oracle Support says that the Bus Error is caused by a swap space problem. But,
I don't know how that's possible being that we have well above the required
RAM (96 MB) and I am the only user on the system.
I tried creating a new form on Machine B and had no problem, but the form was
very small. (Just a button with nothing behind it). I moved this to Machine A
and tried to edit it, which was successful. I then re-saved it and moved it
back to Machine B, and was able to access it without a problem. I was also able
to edit another small "fmb" file I brought over from Machine A without a Bus
Error. It seems that "fmb" files over 45K will cause this error. I have no
problem editing any of these files on Machine A, however.
Anyone have a clue as to what is going on here ? Any known problems between
Sparc/20 and Oracle*forms ? Any known problems between Sun Disksuite and
Oracle*forms ?
Thanks in advance.
