  1.   If I right understand, you want add text field (add database column)
in block, you can do:

  
      
    
    1.   in object navigator create item, set name of this item equial name
database column, specify datatype & length.
    
    2.   or create in layout editor this item ...


  
    
  
  2.   You can use VBX. For example VSVBX.VBX.
