Just a little add-on:
rlwrap is also available through the EPEL repository. This repo might be used on your box anyway, so that's an easy option for installing through your Linux's standard installer, e.g.

[root_at_oracle121 ~]# rpm -Uvh
http://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/epel/7/x86_64/e/epel-release-7-8.noarch.rpm yum repolist
yum install rlwrap
