Well put, Roy. When questions are asked here, they usually get good answers.

Maybe the reason there aren't many questions is that theory per se doesn't interest many people? There are many usenet groups and stack overflow tags like '%SQL%', and no dearth of questions. Nearly all that I've read are of the "how do I" variety, never "why do I". I can almost hear Fabian Pascal lamenting the general lack of intellectual curisosity while it portends the downfall of Western Civilization.

Reporter: What do you think of western civilization? Gandhi: It would be a good idea.
