Thank you for qualifying the "stupid". It naturally removes any residual sting which may otherwise have ruined my weekend and caused me to question my own self worth to the level that I had to constantly engage in ad hominems to convince myself that I am actually intelligent with a point of view that can be civilly defended.

That depends upon whether you see the logical data model as being the end in itself or merely as an instantiation of a set of business rules and data designed to provide a mapping to a real world. Ultimately logical data models have to be implemented - even if it is implemented by the underlying database.
