creating second db

Hi,

I have installed Oracle 92 on my our production machine. It is up and running. I want to create another database on the same machine. I want to create the database manually. Should I bring down the primary instance (the first instance) before issuing the create database command ?.

I am assuming that it is as simple as shutting down the db, bring up SQLPLUS and issues create database command. Is there anything I am missing or watch out for?
