Compiling pl/sql to bytecode in the database

I have read in the oracle documentation that Oracle now provides a tool to
compile your pl/sql packages and  procedures to bytecode (or midway from
text to bytecode) for faster execution of the code.



Has anyone used this functionality (only availible in version 8.1.7
apparently)?
