If you use Oracle's rman it can back up the blocks that were changed since a particular backup.

On Monday schedule, a job runs prior to hot backup that checks arc and redo logs for any information that will indicate that there were a database change. If change found a hot backup is taken, otherwise the scheduled job completes successful.
