I have set up my dialup adapter with TCP/IP protocol and assigned myself a= n ip address (this caused a problem when I dialed into my IPS). =

Then, I installed SQL*Net and chose the TCP/IP as the protocol to be used.=   Using the Easy config, I have created and alias (which you =

provide the IP address that you have assigned to your machine). On the ODB= C driver, I have used this alias name and it worked! Another =

thing that you can do is, instead of permenantly assigning yourself an IP a= ddress, you can dial into your ISP and you will be assigned an =

IP addres. After you get connected, go to start and then run the following=  program with the following option "NBTSTAT -N". This will =

tell you your IP address. Run easy config, change your IP address for the = alias in question. Then run "LSNRCTL" listener control and =

stop the listener and start it again. By doing this you can be on line on = the internet and use SQL*net at the same time!!!

I hope this helps....
