I have been trying to set up Personal Oracle 7 for Windows 95 on my standalone machine. I can get the database up and running just fine, but I can’t attach Microsoft Access 2.0 tables using the ODBC. I have tried the following to setup the ODBC:
1 - After I setup the ODBC Data Source (I selected Oracle as the ODBC Driver and used "2:" in the Network Address field) it gave me an error "CONFIG environment variable not found. SQL*NET must be installed for the Oracle connection to function". I’m not using a remote database so I have no idea what protocol to use (TCP/IP? SPX? or Named Pipes?) , also how do I start the listener in order for SQL*NET to work?
2 - I dialed into www.oracle.com and downloaded their latest Windows 95 ODBC driver. It is the same version that I already have.
Can anyone give me some ideas about what I’m doing wrong, or where I can get a Windows 95 driver that will run on a local database. Received on Sat Aug 10 1996 - 00:00:00 CEST
