I'm assuming that when you mean SQL prompt, you mean the prompt that you get when you run SQL*Plus. The SQL prompt accepts only SQL, PL/SQL and (if using SQL*Plus) SQL*Plus commands. sqlldr is not any of these types of commands. It is in fact a completely different product.

I don't know too much about Personal Oracle7, but if the SQL*Loader packaged with this works anything like the UNIX versions, go to the MS-DOS prompt and invoke sqlldr from there. On the UNIX versions of SQL*Loader, if you just type "sqlldr", what you get is an explanation of the parameters that you have to pass sqlldr. What you described in 3 below sounds a bit like it might be doing that.
