orainst ERROR: User Interface Failure

I ran the /oracle_link/orainst/orainst script to install 
version 7.2.2.3, but it gave me the message:



        User Interface Failure:Window System Startup



When I ran orainst -h (help), it gave me a message saying
that I should set DEBUG_SLFIND to some value (I set it to 1)
and I should be able to find what file orainst is looking
for.  It gave me the above error message again.



We don't have Motif running since we don't have it. Is this 
the problem?  What could be done?



All the installation scripts are in sh or ksh format, but I
have csh as my default oracle login shell.  Is this a problem?
I changed the oracle shell to ksh, but my problem persisted.
