I have used both Paradox and Access extensively and would much rather develop using Paradox (especially remote access). If it is simple then Access is more "user friendly" but I get frustrated when I want to do things behind the scenes using code.

Paradox does have a doubtful future whereas the monolith called Microsoft does rather secure Access's future.

IMO, if the db is simple and the remote access does not need low level automation (ie lots of code) then Access is definately your best bet.
