To answer what I believe is what you're really asking, I have to ask what is *your* environment? I can think of situations where Interbase can compete with other databases. I can also think of lots of situations where it can't begin to compare. The "your mileage may vary" statement is REALLY true for this kind of question.

Here are some questions to start with:

Will you have 1/10/100/1000 clients? Will you have 1/10/100/1000 concurrent transactions? How important is it to have the data base available (e.g. if the data base crashes or otherwise loses your data, how much of an impact will it have)? What kind of hardware / OS will the server run on? What kind of real-time requirements will you have? How much data will the server handle (1MB/1GB/1TB)?

With this kind of information, we might be able to give an informed response.

To answer your question literally: Yes, I have lots of experience comparing Interbase to other data bases.
