  I too found SQL*Reportwriter limiting and PL*SQL/SQL*Plus lacked the   flexability I needed to generate complex reports.

  Thank heven I found OraPerl. OraPerl is the Perl interface into Oracle.   Perl supports report writting (headers, detail lines, page numbers, etc)   and Perl itself is a powerful script language. Get a copy of Perl and   OraPerl and give it a try.
