On a lighter side on the issue of support; the other day I had LOTs and LOTS of trouble with installling Oracle on a box. It was obvious that the CD that I got from Oracle had problems with installation. Files were missing, filenames were truncated, files which were out of date on the CD ets etc. You know how it goes on.

Well anyway, I had to wait and wait and was put on hold and there was this recorded message by an American (we are in Australia) that goes on and on about Oracle and their aim to achieve "ZERO DEFECT PRODUCTS" or something like that. You should have seen the faces of me fellow colleagues when I just burst out laughing out loud. When I put the speaker on they also cracked out.

(on the soap box)

Seriously, there is obviously a problem with Oracle's support worldwide but I have to admit it, my company have been receiving 'improved' services from our local support group and dont have a real concern about it. I know for a fact that the Oracle people are reading this thread, and wish that they take some actions to remedy this problem.

(off the soap box)

my 1cents worth not two
