We are using HP-UX 9.0, Oracle 7.0.15, SQL*Net 1.2 and are encountering the same orasrv problems (i.e. hung processes and CPU hogs). I have also had the same problems on DECs VMS.
I tried setting the 'tcpctl timeout' as suggested without any success. I have been told by Oracle that you can set the TCP/IP keepalive to something lower (default appears to be around 6 hours) to help resolve this problem - I have not tried this yet.
I was told that SQL*Net 2.1 should address this issue but have not been able to confirm this - maybe the Oracle folks could comment (SQL*Net 2.0 did not fix this problem). Received on Mon May 02 1994 - 18:26:43 CEST
