Oracle Pricing Costs are Absurdly High

Our latest set of system upgrades have one thing in common. The costs for Oracle are greater than the cost of everything else combined. Latest examples are an upgrade from a VAX 4000 to DEC alpha box. Oracle costs for going from 24 to 96 users greater than the DEC hardware, and all the other software combined.

We're not talking about applications, simply a database where we write/maintain the applications.

It has led us to start reconsidering other platforms due to absurdly greedy, overpriced Oracle costs.
