Image Data in Oracle

I am interested in who is or plans to use ORACLE for managing/creating/handling digital image data. I want to know if anyone has used the blob types to store images (digitized representations of continuous tone color and monochrome) and related information. If anyone has, please let me know how it went (is going). Also I would be interested in any forms/gui tools available in the database market that support viewing/editing digital images.
