We have a Sun 3 network with an Oracle V6 database and several application programs that were locally written running on client machines. We own a 2-16 user license for the RDBMS and SQL*Net and the various other applications, including PRO*C.

Recently we got some Sparcs (4) and they have been connected to the network. I would like to recompile our local apps on the Sparcs to connect to the Sun 3 database.

Question: What do I need to do this ??

My Answer: A single user PRO*C license ? I thought that the SQL*Net was only necessary at the server end and that all the client end needed was the TCP/IP socket interface ? My sales man seems to think I need to buy a 2-16 user license for PRO*C and a 2-16 user license for SQL*Net. The price difference is more than slight. Any ideas ?

Official answers solicited also.

Arghh!!!

Mark...
