SQL*Forms 4.0 is currently in Alpha Test on VMS. It was demoed extensively at IOUG this year on VMS, SUN, MAC and Windows, and I'm sure that there will be some press reviews soon.
Yes, There will be a version of SQL*Forms (full development and run-time) for both the MAC and Windows on the PC. Both of these ports are well underway (read: they're up and running now).
Major Features of SQL*Forms 4.0:
Full backward compatability with SQL*Forms 3.0. To upgrade a Forms 3.0 form to run on Forms 4.0 you simply re-generate the form and it runs. The same with SQL*Menu 5.0 menus, you simply re-generate.
SQL*Forms and SQL*Menu in a single product. A single Design Interface for both Form Modules and Menu Modules.
Real Graphical User Interface objects in your forms, e.g. buttons, check boxes, radio groups, images, sounds, dynamic boilerplate... Of course this will all still run on character mode and block mode.
New true Bitmap Forms Designer/layout editor
Non Oracle data source support. (The IOUW demo was done with SQL*Forms read/write/update to a FLAT file!).
Product Integration with other Oracle Tools (SQL*Reportwriter V2, Oracle Graphics V2, Oracle Bookviewer V1) e.g. you can put an Oracle*graphics chart on your form as an object and get Oracle*graphics to update it with data you send from your form. Oracle Graphics will NOT have to re-query the database to generate the chart!
Shared Modules. Modules can be put into a shared memory segment. This means an overall reduction in the amount of memory required to execute a form. Upwards of 80% of most forms are shareable!
Hope this dispels some of the rumors.
