[Quoted] Hi there,

[Quoted] [Quoted] I'm going insane trying to get to the bottom of this problem...

We have installed OAS 4.0.8.1 on a windows NT box running SP5.0, which is accessing a database on another NT machine running SP6.0, and an Oracle 8.0.5.0.0 database.

We are using the PL/SQL cartridge to provide data from the database and return it to the users, with the default Oracle web listener

My problem is that while the request is being serviced by OAS the processor usage of the oraweb40
[Quoted] (I assume this is the international 40-bit encryption version) goes to 100% [Quoted] and stays there until the request has been serviced by the database. As the [Quoted] database uses dbms_alert to wait for information from a legacy system, the duration can be quite some time. however all the time that this is happening, the webserver is going red in the face doing god knows what.

Another issue is that the when a web request is the first to come through in [Quoted] a while (say 5 minutes) it takes 10 - 15 seconds to even process the request [Quoted] and begin to access the database.

I've tried to tweak the tuning parameters and the tuning model, but even if [Quoted] I start 5 instances of the PL/SQL cartridge, it still 'goes to sleep' after [Quoted] five minutes.

Has anyone encountered any of these problems?

Is OAS4081 fit to go into production like this ?

Thanks in advance.

Mike
