Ok all you highly competent developers ready to jump out and tune a production database ... without looking it up ... lets run a small test.
Ok ... I know your DBA probably can't answer most of them either but that isn't the point. Given two people that can't do the job ... train the DBA to do the DBA job and train the developer to write better code. The solution is not for the developer to hack around prod hoping to stumble on the issue.
