     Hello,

     We have Oracle RDBMS 6.0.36 under HP-UX 9.04.

     I must often export the data before to run a program (payroll) and
     when the program is completed, if the results are wrong then I must
     import the file.dmp created before.

     Sometimes when I import I get a error message ORA-1547 and if I look
     at the free space there is plenty of free space but not contiguous.

     I have a tool to defrag free space but it doesn't defrag enough.

     Is there a solution to defrag ?

     When I export I use the option compress=Y and I would like to keep
     this option with Yes, if possible.

     Is this excact that with Oracle7 we don't have the problem anymore ?

     Thanks in advance for your help.
