This is an open group and that guy has a well deserved reputation (among the serious practicioners) due to his publications.

Of course, but you have a lot of chances to misunderstand the view of others if they use the language in an incompetent way.

I suspect that this thread started because I requested clarification for a statement that I was not sure about how to interpretate
