Flames between devotees tend to crush the differences between integrity and dogmatism. Finding out about "The three amigos", (http://c2.com/cgi/wiki?ThreeAmigos) and Christopher Alexander
(http://www-users.cs.york.ac.uk/~susan/bib/nf/a/alexandr.htm) helps distinguishing between ideas and their straitjacketed versions on the themes OO and patterns.

One warning, though: there is allways the danger of getting more cynical.
