Some of the expected advantages are:

Aim is to fully support the ISO SQL/92 standard (which includes transactions and sub-queries)
Developed for 21st century operating systems and hardware Not written in C
Fast multi-threaded engine
Native ODBC API
Multiversion concurrency control

  • readers never block other users
  • writers never block readers Fast recovery after power-failure or rollback
