Sounds like it may be a solution. Is it possible to rename an instance ? Would this be an easier alternative ?

I am basically testing our product with an MS front end looking at an Oracle 8 DB. Because of complexities with the product, In order to initially licence our product, I must have connectivity and conversely, I can't change the config ( connectivity ) until it's licensed. Normally we don't have this problem as we have a CHUI for our Unix platform and it works slightly differently.

As I already have a solid instance with GB's of data in it, I don't want to have to destroy it just for a days testing. So, I am looking for a way to either have multiple instances looking at the one database ( using the instance name hardcoded in the product ) or be able to change the instance name.

Thanks for your help.

Regards.
