However, if you factor in the life cost of computers, and the life cost of programmers, and the number of programmers per computer, you need computers that cost many millions of dollars. I started on 360/40, and they weren't near that expensive.
Of course, the _most expensive_ systems are still really expensive, but hopefully they won't be basing their systems designs on hearsay from cdo.misc! :)
IIRC, I was first told that "Nowadays, people are more expensive than computers" approximately 1980 in the context of PDP-11's.
