NOW HAVE: MIGRATING TO:
*********************************	*********************************
E55 D370
HP-UX 9.04 HP-UX 10.20
Oracle 7.1.6.2 Oracle 7.3
Oracle Financials 10.6 (AP & PO)	Oracle Financials 10.7 (AP & PO)
Opsys on internal disk Lotsa internal disk
RAID10 Disk (RAID5 mode) Will attach existing RAID to D370

Have plenty time to use both E55 and D370 during migration if desired. Internal D370 disks big enough to support test environment if required.

Want to ensure uninterrupted user service. Want to avoid any vendor finger pointing if any problems do occur.

Should we:
1) Install the new Oracle software on the D370 with a test database and test the heck out of it and not really worry about isolating problems? (Are the Oracle apps stable enough with HP-UX10.20?).

                        or
2) Install the new Oracle software on the E55 first and ensure that it's stable before installing it on the D370? (Very time consuming).

                        or
3) Install the old Oracle software on the D370, attach the RAID with the old database, and run on 10.20 until proof that new system is stable, then migrate to the new Oracle software?

4) Other ideas?

The Oracle install procedure normally automatically converts the database schema. Can this conversion be done without a software install?

Thanks for any help provided.
