Rdb gateway (formerly DBI gateway for RMS) supports both read and write access. works quite well and is easy to use. does not need CDD (works either way, fast without CDD, slow with CDD).
used to be cheap (when DEC product). Check the Oracle pricing......if you have to ask you cant afford it 8^)
