Some of the biggest problems in getting SCO Oracle to work on Linux have been related to trying to fake one's way around using SCO binaries.

I'm not sure if everyone's aware of this, but SCO has just announced that they are *giving away* their UNIX system for non-commercial and educational use. They charge about $25 (in the US) to ship a CD to you.

This may not be Ian's problem with Oracle 7.3, but it may solve others' problems -- as long as they're working in a non-commercial environment. (I'm still working on other workarounds.)

(Of course, I'm suggesting here that you might get the SCO binaries necessary for a *LINUX* installation, not that you migrate to SCO!)

Info on the SCO giveaway is at http://www.sco.com.

As always, these views are my own and do not necessarily reflect the views of Oracle Corporation. Oracle does not officially support running its software on non-standard platforms.
