: This may not be Ian's problem with Oracle 7.3, but it may solve
: others' problems -- as long as they're working in a non-commercial
: environment. (I'm still working on other workarounds.)

I have the RDBMS up and running and accessible via svrmgrl (=sqldba) and sql*plus. This gives me just about enough of the functionality that I require, so I don't plan to spend too much time in the near future on getting things like Pro*C to work, etc.

The installation process is not exactly clean, but does seem to work despite various compilation failures, etc. I'm reluctant to post the installation procedure until such time as the steps are pretty straightforward and work 100% as advertised.

I have been trying to get Oraperl (perl5 module) compiled, but it appears that the OCI layer makes some calls to some SCO specific library functions - stat32 and it's family. I tried to kludge my way through these, but so far have had no joy in getting it installed.

: binaries necessary for a *LINUX* installation, not that you migrate
: to SCO!)

Thanks for the advice on the SCO giveaway, I'll check out their WWW pages.
