Peter,

A good tool for data modeling is Oracle's Designer/2000 product. I have used this tool on a couple of projects and it has worked great. It also generates Oracle Forms 4.5 code. As yet we have not tried the code generation portion yet.

We have used it in the following manner:
- as a repository for all data and process information;

  • to produce the DDL to create the database stuff (e.g., tables, columns, indexes, triggers, constraints, procedures, functions, etc); and
  • to produce data and process models.

Even if you only use it as a repository and database generation the tool makes life easier.

If you require further information, please contact me.
