Personal Oracle (SQLPlus *3.1) connection problem

I have **just installed** Personal Oracle on my **standalone** PC running Windows 3.1 when trying to run SQLPlus *3.1, I get the following error messages

ERROR: ORA-01034: ORACLE not available
ORA-09243: smsget: error attaching to SGA OSD-01104: unable to attach to SGA: SGA does not exist

What am I doing wrong?

Also, what should I type in the Log On dialog box for User Name, Password and Host String?
Please noite that I have just installed the software and probably need to log in with some defualt user name and password.
