I am working on the premise that there is no need for cold backups. True, the tablespaces are inconsistent on the tape. I assume you put them all in their proper places and do a "recover database" with the archived log file that was active while the database was backed up.

My only concern is for the online redo logs. They will also be inconsistent. They may not even be there (disk crash). They are not included in the cold backup, so are they a problem?
