Has anyone tried to compile a Forms 4.5 form in "character" mode on a unix machine?

We are interested in hearing your experience, and how well the Oracle "character template" (vs gui) works.

Our target environment is to develop on Win3.1 PCs using the new Oracle Designer/Developer 2000 software in client/server mode connected to an HP 9000 unix development server.

When the programs are completed, we will ftp them to a production HP 9000 where they will be compiled in CHARACTER MODE. End-users will run the application in vt220 emulation on DOS PCs.

Why would we not run the production environment in gui you ask.

To save the hundreds of thousands of dollars required to move our PCs from DOS to Windows, and because we are running an inexpensive 56KB wide area network with decent performance for our vt220 emulation.

Hope to hear from you soon. Thanks! Received on Wed Nov 22 1995 - 00:00:00 CET
