You don't say what type of system you are running on. But if you are on
Unix, you should have a file in your /etc directory called 'oratab'. This
file should have a line for each instance of oracle in the following
format:
instance name:path to oracle binaries (oracle_home):Y|N
for example: sid1:/sub1/oracle/product/7.1.4:Y sid2:/sub1/oracle/product/7.1.6:N
This file is used to tell whether you want oracle to automatically start at when the dbstart script is run. So every database(instance) should be listed there....no need to log onto Oracle. I'm sure there is a similar file on PC networks but don't know exactly where it is located on them.
