Runaway shadow processes (HP9000)

We are encountering runaway user shadow processes for
disconnected users.  We are running Oracle 7.0.16 on a HP9000.
SqlNet version 1 is being used so we have a shadow process
for all user sessions.



These processes are sometimes using up to 50% of available
cp time.  These processes remain even though we shutdown the
database at 3:00 in the morning and back it up, and then start
it back up.  We have to manually go in and issue a kill on the
runaway process.



Any suggestions or similar experiences ?
