I am working on a client server project, currently in the design stage, which is using Oracle's SQL*Net to connect Gupta's SQL*Windows tool to an Oracle V7 database across a WAN. The WAN uses a fibre-optic backbone but in exceptional circumstances may revert to microwave links. My problem is that I have heard there are grave problems in running SQL *Net over wide area networks.
Can anyone shed any light on this while the project is still in the design stage and we can do something about it?
