Isn't the opt filesystem designed for mounting stuff like the Sun Compiler? gcc doesn't supply it ( I'm on 2.5.8 ), so it must be that.

Couldn't you just create /opt/SUNWspro as a symlink to /usr/lib or whereever the libraries it's looking for exist?

I've tried compiling stuff under gcc ( I always use it ) with Oracle 6/7 with Pro*C 1.3, 1.4, 1.5 & the one with Oracle 7 ( can't remember it's version! ). If you have troubles, you can set the output of the precompile to 'ansi', and gcc likes it.
