Check your ORACLE_HOME assignment and verify that it is correct. Also check your "oratab" file to verify that it is pointing to the correct oracle home directory, along with any other places in which you may have specified the oracle home directory (for example, listener.ora). These may not be the cause of your problem, but they can cause errors like what you are getting.

I am installing ORACLE V7 under Solaris 2.3 for the first time and get an error when it starts the DB up for the first time. It is a shared memory error. Anyone seen this before?
