There was a fix to orasrv which we installed hurriedly after upgrading to 7.0.16. The zombie processes were being generated, and only went away when orasrv was bounced. The alternative to the fix was to use the orasrv from 7.0.15. This was Sun os 4.1.3, and upgrading from 7.0.13 to 7.0.16. I haven't the number of the patch. Sorry.
