If anyone cares about this sort of anecdotal evidence, we have an Oracle database running on a Sun Sparc10 (64M RAM, 3G disk). We do Financials (really just General Ledger) and home-grown applications. Upon upgrade to Oracle7 we noticed a dramatic performance increase in many areas. For example, posting 4000 transactions now takes about 15 minutes compared with 22 before the upgrade. I can't guarantee that this improvement cannot be attributed to manipulation of the new init.ora parameters (or perhaps to some adjustment in the Ledger itself since that needed an upgrade to take advantage of Oracle7), however on balance we are very pleased with the current level of performance.
