Check also VisualWorks from ParcPlace : it is an object oriented development tool (smalltalk) which comes with a standard interface for SQLNet (and SYbase I believe), and your application can be ported to other platforms without any changes (unless of course you use something specific mac on the mac and you want to port this to a pc). Visualworks is a superset of ObjectWorks (the standard smalltalk-80 implementation) with extension for building GUI's for databases.
