How about this one: Oracle 7 is here now and Sybase 10 is not.

There must be *some* reason Oracle's stock has doubled in price the last year! :)

Seriously though, there have been numerous comparisons between Sybase and Oracle here and in comp.databases.sybase. From my tally, Oracle has come out on top by most accounts. Comparisons feature-by-feature might help you out but in the end you have to pick the features you require (do this first) and then pick the database which satisfies those requirements.

From personal experience, I've found several releases of Sybase to be buggy to the point of major features not working properly. I'm not saying Oracle does not have bugs, but it seems somehow that Oracle is a much more stable, solid product.

I guess we'll all wait and see how System 10 fares when it is released.
