We also have been running V6 and V7 concurrently for about a year without any problems. A couple of notes

• due to the new features of ORACLE7, you tend to develop separate administration procedures for the two versions (i.e. V6 - GRANT CONNECT, V7 - CREATE USER)
• You can only 'INSTALL' one set of utility programs (FORMS, etc.), because they have the same image name. Install the utilities for the version that has the most users. You won't have this problem with the ORACLE image because the image identifier is generally the version number.

I say, go for it. You need to get into ORACLE7.
