And after you have left Fantasy Land, take a look at the Oracle
strategy for Replication in the white paper Oracle7 Symmetric
Replication (part #A13824). It explains in fairly low levels of
detail how Oracle's strategy is one that will work, not one that
has single points of failure, and doesn't even embrace the most
elementary requirements of real businesses.
Oracle7.1 will offer all levels of replication in an automatic,
Server-based methodology. No 'add on' servers to buy and maintain,
no products that don't really exist yet (see Replication Server,
Navigation Server, SQL Server 5, etc), and no company that virtually
ignores clients technical support questions.
Whether it be n-way, asynchronous, or hybrid replication, Oracle has
the solution you should consider as the standard. Don't let the
hype on non-products fool you. Replication Server is a recipe for
failure.
